WHAT ARE CRISIS RESIDENTIAL SERVICES? Crisis Residential services go by many different names (Crisis Residential Unit, Crisis Stabilization Unit, Crisis Respite, etc.), but refer to a short-term, community-based, homelike setting with multi-day lengths of stay, often serving as a step-down from, or alternative to, psychiatric hospitalization. Crisis Residential Treatment Programs (CRTPs) are designed to serve individuals who are experiencing an acute behavioral health impairment and whose adaptive functioning is moderately impaired. CRTPs provide short term, intensive and supportive services in a home like environment through an active social rehabilitation program designed to improve the lives and adaptive functioning of those it serves. The Crisis Residential Association believes that to be most effective in helping individuals who access CRTPs, programs should adhere to the following standards: |
