CRA CONFERENCE:
CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
​(June 2020)


​The Call for Presentations for the 2020 Annual Crisis Residential Virtual Conference is now open!
 
Hosted by the Crisis Residential Association, this third annual conference will take place virtually October 13th & 14th.
 
To submit your presentation, visit the CRA Call for Presentations website here: https://tinyurl.com/CrisisResConCFP2020
 
Workshops will be allotted 30-60 minutes per session. A modest conference registration discount will be offered to individuals whose workshop proposals are accepted (maximum two presenter discounts per workshop). Cited references are required as CRA will apply for CEUs for most presentations.
 
Deadline for submissions is July 15, 2020.

CRA Contributes to Joint Statement on Care for Individuals with Behavioral Health Emergencies at Risk for COVID-19

The Crisis Residential Association contributed to a joint statement on the care of individuals with behavioral health emergencies who are at risk for COVID-19 or have contracted COVID-19.

CRA Response to SAMHSA Guidelines on
​Behavioral Health Crisis Care

In March 2020, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) published "National Guidelines for Behavioral Health Crisis Care: A Best Practices Toolkit". 

CRA has submitted a formal response to Dr. Elinore McCantz-Katz, Secretary at SAMHSA, which has been published here.

Webinar: Zero Suicide in Crisis Residential Services

The first webinar hosted by the Crisis Residential Association, “Zero Suicide In Crisis Residential Services” will take place Thursday, April 25th at 12pm ET/9am PT.

Dr. Charles Browning, MD, Medical Director at RI International, will be leading the webinar. Dr. Browning will explore the critical elements of the Zero Suicide initiative as they apply to crisis systems. Learn about the importance of the culture of safety in your service, how these approaches can meld well with person centered care, and how to be a part of the suicide prevention continuum in your community.

Thank you to everyone who attended the inaugural Crisis Residential Conference October 11 & 12 in San Diego!  It was a tremendous time together and the sign of many opportunities to come for innovation, connection, and development. 

We are in the early stages of forming the Crisis Residential Association, a national network of crisis providers and funders dedicated to improving the crisis services landscape. More information will be coming to our website in December 2018.

First Conference Plenary Speaker Announced!


​As Executive Director of Progress Foundation since 1969, Steve Fields has championed the development of social rehabilitation programs throughout California and the nation, pioneered acute residential alternatives to hospitalization, opened the first social model residential treatment programs for geriatric clients and the first social model residential treatment program for women and children. He received his BA from Harvard and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. A leader in local, state and national efforts to develop and promote change in the mental health system, he was instrumental in forming the San Francisco Human Services Network (HSN), an association of over 100 nonprofit agencies

Community Mental Health for Central Michigan, a Community Mental Health Center representing six counties in northern lower Michigan, has released a Request for Information for the development of a Crisis Residential Facility. The full RFI can be downloaded at the link below.

We are thrilled to announce the inaugural Alternatives to Hospitalization: Crisis Residential Conference, ​October 11-12, 2018, in San Diego, CA! 

Join crisis service providers, advocates, and thought leaders from across the country as we explore emerging best practices, clinical practice improvements, and program design models within the framework of subacute crisis residential programs and alternatives to psychiatric hospitalization.

Attendees will be provided the opportunity to take a tour of a SAMHSA-recognized, evidence-based Crisis Residential program operated by Community Research Foundation in San Diego.
